Sarah Craven, Esq.
Ms. Craven is a policy advocate and attorney with expertise in gender law and sustainable development policy. She currently serves as chief of the Washington, DC, office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Most recently, Ms. Craven was coordinator for the five-year review of the International Conference on Population and Development at the U.S. Department of State. She is the former policy advisor to the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA), where she developed and implemented the organization's advocacy and public affairs strategy. Prior to her work at CEDPA, Ms. Craven was a staff attorney at the National Women's Law Center and served on the legislative staff of Senator Timothy E. Wirth, of Colorado, and the late Senator Spark Matsunaga, of Hawai'i.
Ian Griffith
An underwater technologist, Mr. Griffith has extensive experience with a wide variety of systems including submersibles, atmospheric diving, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and commercial diving. One area of special expertise is in deep and long tunnel inspection. In the early 1990's Mr. Griffith was key in the development of Mantero, an ROV that holds several tunnel penetration records. More recently, he led the development of a number of fiber optic inspections systems for manned tunnel inspections ranging from 3,000 to 22,000 linear feet. Much of Mr. Griffith's strength in engineering results from his years of field experience, which included on-site system modification and integration and special project development such as dive supervision and support.
George Wilkins
Mr. Wilkins served as the senior scientist with the Naval Ocean Systems in Kaneohe Bay on Oahu, Hawai'i and served on the Executive Board for the design, fabrication, and testing of the Hawai'i Floating City Model. He developed the first ultra-lightweight armored cable for use with deep sea remotely operated vehicles and designed the armored coaxial and electro-optical cables used by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to find and explore the Titanic and to later find the German battleship Bismarck.
Mr. Wilkins also served on the executive board for the University of Hawai'i's Deep Underwater Muon and Neutrino Detector and was responsible for the deployment of a giant neutrino telescope off the Kona Coast of Hawai'i. Mr. Wilkins also serves on the Board of Directors for the County of Hawai'i Board of Water Supply.
Liz Taylor
Ms. Taylor was involved with Deep Ocean Exploration & Research (DOER) from its inception and became president and CEO in 1994. From 1993 to 1995, she served as president of the Perry Foundation's Caribbean Marine Research Center. Previously, Ms. Taylor held an executive position with a leading ROV manufacturing firm for more than eight years.
Ms. Taylor currently serves as the Chair of the Marine Technology Society's Ocean Exploration Committee. She has participated in numerous scientific and educational ocean exploration projects, including those with the California Academy of Sciences (CAS), National Geographic Society, Ocean Conservancy, British Broadcasting Corporation, Discovery Channel, and The Explorers Club. She is past secretary of the Association of Diving Contractors Western Chapter and a member of the Marine Technology Society, Association of Diving Contractors, and The Explorers Club.
